About This Project

When it comes to “Stealth” one might think of the Stealth Bomber, or perhaps some clandestine spy movie. But, when it comes to an electronics system installed in a home, Futurian Systems has embodied such a word with how they covertly equipped the driving force of this entire home.

The Vail Valley, CO division of Futurian Systems was approached to design, install, and now maintain one of the most custom home systems you could imagine. Not only is the interior design of this home one to amaze the eye of many who view it, but the motorized equipment rack is a jaw-dropping feature that will stop you in your tracks when it emerges from the wall!

For a home built in 1992, the remodel of this home was expansive. Great care had to go into the planning of major upgrades in technology that would include audio, video, data, security, and home automation that would take it to the cutting edge. The owner wouldn’t settle for anything less than “stealth” so Futurian went to work in how it was to hide as much of the technology as possible.

About This Project

The Spun Style Project was like a breath of fresh air – something that deviated from the normal in the residential world. Futurian had the opportunity to work up a design that was a new style fitting within the contemporary flavor of this special home. This distinctive system included unique features such as mirrored TVs that vanished when turned off, automated shades that activated based on sunlight, and a projection theater in an unusually shaped room.
The project was all about details considering the owner was a very successful interior designer. Every little part of the system from wording on the engraved buttons for keypads, to the perfect angles of ceiling mounted TVs had to be considered. Futurian was no stranger to the detailed excellence that was expected and made all efforts to ensure every detail was covered.

One of the highlights of the system is a beautiful outdoor cabana that offers the best in pool-side amenities including a cook top, refrigerator, and most importantly a fully weatherproofed TV. Futurian was challenged in implementing this TV which would be totally exposed to the elements while hanging from structure that was not traditional. As Futurian appreciates challenges, they selected the best product for the application while working closely with structural engineers to mount this outdoor TV.

The Master Bathroom also had a feature not seen in the everyday home – a mirror with a built-in TV. Activated by a keypad at the entrance to the bathroom, the TV could bring up multiple video sources including a user interface to control the entire home, satellite TV, DVD, or surveillance cameras. Special programming was applied to the TV to have the display switch over to the front door camera when the doorbell was rang. A most convenient feature when in the shower or tub!

About This Project

One of Futurian’s most extraordinary projects took place in this beautiful penthouse overlooking downtown Dallas. Electronic House Magazine’s 2010 Home of the Year Best Outdoor Space was earned by Fururian’s implementation of this high profile system.
This project posed some serious challenges with its location 30 floors up, the narrow hallways to move equipment, and the rooftop pool terrace that required a massive projection TV system. As Futurian’s President commented, “Around the outskirts of the pool deck it has joint glass to protect from the wind, but it really kicks up,” he says. “If the wind got behind the screen at any point it could potentially rip it from behind or act like a big sail. We had to plan on a day that worked well, when the winds were light and we could build a frame and not worry about the wind pulling guys off the top of the building.”

Futurian had to be very strategic with the design, install, and programming of this system. Equipment was closely selected to fit the space with the many unique requirements of the various textures and architectural design. The client had requested motorized TV mounts so that when the TV was activated it would automatically swing out and aim towards the seating section. This required reinforcement of the structure to hold these very heavy mounts on surfaces such as drywall, granite, and stone.

The Great Room was yet another challenge with the high ceilings, soft wood floors, and the desire for 7.1surround sound. Futurian overcame the challenge by going the distance to protect the floors before scaffolding was built within the room to install ceiling speakers for surround. The plan went off without a hitch and all speakers were perfectly positioned for the most engaging audio experience you could put in the room.

As this impressive penthouse demanded the most advanced technology despite its many challenges, Futurian delivered yet another award worthy system that shaped a lifestyle that fit the space perfectly.

About This Project

The Tailwind Project consisted of a full featured business system. Not only does the company operate out of a unique building (a renovated airplane hanger), but it also has an exclusively designed system. Audio, video, voice, data, security, and control solutions were put in place to fully accommodate all aspects of the technology required for this business.
Futurian initiated the project by conducting interviews with the principals to determine the exact needs of the facility. Displays throughout, lighting control, tight knit security, camera surveillance, WiFi, cell phone boosters, and technically advanced conference rooms were all discussed and delivered.

The focal point of the system was certainly the main conference room which included a gigantic projection screen to display presentations that would absolutely make an impact. Various sources were also available on the main conference room screen including multiple computer hook-ups in the room, Blu-ray DVD, and satellite TV. The entire room was automated with lighting, drapes, audio, and video to easily set the room up for presentations, TV watching, promo videos, and more with a simple push of a button on the keypads entering the room.

Due to the many cell phone calls personnel was making each day, a robust cell phone booster system was implemented to cover the entire building. This gave all users the increase in signal that was certainly impaired by the metal structure. A strong WiFi signal was also deployed for a consistently good signal that was critical to laptop usage anywhere in the facility.

Cameras monitor the exterior of the building with day/night function to capture the comings and goings of any visitors. With the proper credentials, recordings can be accessed through any of the computers on the network or remotely through smart phones or computers. Observation of the cameras was also delivered through the company’s network and a monitor mounted on top of the locked equipment rack in the server room.
